Features of higher education in Canada

Abstract

The article highlights the key features of Canadian higher education system, namely the specificity of regulation of post secondary education institutions, their main features being decentralization and autonomy, the way federal and provincial governments interact with one another in this respect and the effect it has on Canada’s high education attainment. The paper also sets out the peculiarities of how the preparation of specialists of different academic levels is organized, what academic programs` outcomes are and what credentials can be granted in Canada. The attention is also given to tracing Canada’s interest to the Bologna process, similar features of North America and Europe` s higher education systems are also singled out.
