Theoretical aspects of empirical comparative study of adult education in Greece

In the article were analyzed theoretical and methodological aspects of empirical comparative study of adult education in Greece in order to create a sufficient methodological basis of empirical researches in this field in Ukraine and building on this ground, a single model of lifelong learning. It was found that andragogics is one of the lines marking the field of educational science, covering theoretical and practical problems of adult education (training and education). In addition, the author is giving focus on the analysis of the main approaches to the roles, functions and tasks of adult educator. Moreover, the author proved that the leading role in comparative educational research in general and adult education in particular, is gradually beginning to play methodology of “informational comparativistics” on which are compared not only those or other social systems, but also empirical evidence that reveal the basic processes occurring in them. Accordingly, the subject of comparative studies of adult education becomes an empirical analysis, which shows changes in the system, giving new knowledge.
