Distance learning foreign languages in non-linguistic universities: experience and prospects

Abstract

The article deals with the use of distance learning technologies in teaching foreign languages to students of non-linguistic universities. The given article analyzes the concept of “distance learning”, high-lights its main features, considers its main advantages as an innova-tive technology for effective teaching of foreign languages. The example of distance learning technology based on Moodle environ-ment at the National University of Food Technologies is given. The authors share their experience in developing an English distance course for full-time students. The main difficulties that can be faced by teachers and students in the process of learning a foreign lan-guage in a distance are mentioned.
