Management of master’s students’ educational and cognitive activity through coaching

Abstract

In the following article the authors consider management of Master’s students’ educational and cognitive activity through coaching. The purpose of education coaching is examined in the article. Coaching is defined as the newest technology that is used in the process of development of professional competence and activation of the cognitive motivation of Master’s students, inducement to self-study as means of increasing the effectiveness of the educational and cognitive activity of Master’s students. The importance of coaching is revealed in the fact that it allows awakening the personal potential of Master’s students, forming the readiness for independent educational and cognitive activity, developing the capacity to use the maximum of resources to achieve goals, revealing the ability to carry out, adjust and control their activities without any interference. The article describes the peculiarities of the implementation of coaching technology in higher education on the example of setting a SMART-goal in the process of teaching the discipline “Modern educational technologies”. The main objectives of coaching are to stimulate independent cognitive research, to evolve the ability to make decisions, to develop responsibility and confidence in personal capabilities. In the given article coaching is regarded as a technology that helps to expand the idea of oneself as of the subject of professional activity, to form the need for personal and professional self-improvement throughout life.
