The issue of use of elements of critical thinking in the classroom for foreign language students in technical fields

Abstrakt

The article is devoted to the problem of critical thinking elements appli-cation in foreign language lessons which students of technical special-ties have. It deals with critical thinking. The definition of such term as “critical thinking” is given. Brief description of the term “critical thinking” origin is presented in the article. The difference between ordinary think-ing and critical thinking is specified. In the article the attention is paid to the critical thinking strategies, which can be divided in two categories: cognitive strategies and affective strategies. Main elements of critical thinking (knowledge, comprehension, application, analysis, synthesis, evaluation) are described. Main peculiarities of critical thinking ele-ments application in foreign language lessons are defined and ana-lyzed by the author. The author also outlines the significance and importance of critical thinking and its application in our everyday life.
