Abstract

The article deals with the detailed overview of the specific features of teaching English to students from Asian countries. The authors conducted a brief analysis of linguistic similarities and differences between English and Asian languages, namely, Japanese, Chinese and Korean in terms of phonetics, lexis and syntax. Based on the teaching experience of the authors, the most common intonational, phonemic, lexical and grammar errors typically made by Asian students have been included into the article. Effective methods to help avoid such errors, as well as to help master the specific features of the English language have been described in the article. Phonemic errors and ways to overcome them successfully are of primary focus in the article.
